Greetings,

It's July — when we annually share some of our favorite reads, listens, tools, sources of wisdom, etc. This year, we've been discussing resources we return to again and again — those ones that unveil something new with each reading or reinforce critical lessons and habits as we continue to grow and evolve. You can find those below.

Our Go-Tos & Must-Reads

Reads:

  • Brene Brown's The Gifts of Imperfection - which I find insightful professionally and as a parent
  • David Allen's Getting Things Done - which I revisit each year to ensure I'm spending my time as thoughtfully as I can
  • Greg McKeown's Essentialism - the spiritual cousin to the first two, which is a great starting place for evaluating your priorities
  • HBR Article Managing Oneself - a roadmap for thoughtful career (and life) planning
  • MTOP productivity expert Holly Uverity loves the book It's About Time: The Six Styles of Procrastination and How To Overcome Them
  • MTOP executive Coach Robert Friedland cites Ten Steps to Authenticity by Norma Hollis as a must-read

Listens:

  • HBR Presents: Coaching Real Leaders with Muriel Wilkins - real-life coaching sessions with leaders working to overcome professional challenges
  • Think Fast, Talk Smart - a favorite of MTOP strategist and coach Rosa Maria Villagomez, this one shares strategic communication techniques for public speaking, speaking off the cuff, and more

Tools:

  • Intelligent Change's Productivity Planner - a fantastic resource to help you organize your work
  • Mountaintop's Priorities Planner - a daily planner to help you get the most important things done
  • Gallup's StrengthsFinder assessment - an insightful tool for managers and teams to understand each other better and achieve with ease, excellence, and enjoyment (full disclosure: with three certified Strengths coaches/trainers on our team, we may be biased)

I'd love to hear about your go-tos. Reply to this email, and let's chat.
