Greetings,
As one of my dear friends (and loyal newsletter readers) likes to remind me: with kids, more is caught than taught. They are studying us.
That insight is top of mind as we approach Mother’s Day. Specifically, I salute my mom for her inspiring example. While I can’t recall many specific “teachings” from childhood, I watched closely enough to catch her strong work ethic, faith, passion for the arts, disdain for gossip, and commitment to joy. I am forever grateful.
Mothers aren’t the only ones being watched. Each of us in a position of authority has the opportunity to lead by example. How we show up for and with our teams impacts culture more than the official values statements we hang on our office walls.
This month, please take a moment to consider: what would someone catch by observing your leadership style? I’d love to hear about it.
