Last month, we posted this quote on LinkedIn: "Every year, you make a resolution to change yourself. This year, make a resolution to be yourself." It has been one of the most well-received insights we've ever shared.
The spirit of the quote is really the mantra of Mountaintop: that each of us will succeed because of our differences, not in spite of them.
Accordingly, a lot of our work on team building and culture building is grounded in the Gallup StrengthsFinder assessment. The assessment helps people see what's special about themselves, so they can put those talents into practice.
Gallup's research shows that playing to our strengths helps us feel more productive, more engaged, and more at peace.
So, in this Valentine's month, here's a reminder to love and celebrate yourself for the unique set of talents and perspectives you bring to the world. After all, only 1 in 33 million people will have the same strengths in the same order. I'd love to know yours. Reply to this email, and let's chat.
P.S. My Top 5 Strengths are Achiever, Relator, Learner, Consistency, and Input.

One of the biggest professional challenges many of us face is being too modest. This month, we encourage you to embrace the value you add and raise awareness of it with your colleagues and network.
When it comes to the alphabet soup of professional and personality assessments, the one we recommend across the board is Clifton Strengths due to its positive focus, accessibility, and applicability. We use it with our clients and for ourselves. (If you visit our office, you'll see each person's Top 5 Strengths prominently displayed on their nameplate, and coaching conversations heavily feature Strengths.)
According to Gallup studies, when leaders focus on and invest in their employees' strengths, employee engagement increases from roughly 9% to almost 73%.
This dynamic is particularly pronounced among strong performers. A strengths focus addresses their desire for acknowledgement, while also providing a neutral language for constructive feedback.

"Mountaintop’s StrengthsFinder Team Building project was a hit with my department of 192 team members spread across offices and field locations throughout the U.S. The Strengths assessment, group workshop, and coaching sessions gave us accessible, engaging ways to get to know each other and strengthen our culture. Mountaintop is now helping us build on that foundation by applying a Strengths lens to people management, planning, and leadership development."
